On Tuesday April 2, some of the biggest names in football, music, and entertainment gathered in Nashville with hosts Kevin Carter and Jay DeMarcus for their 12th annual Waiting for Wishes celebrity waiters dinner, an event that raises money for the Kevin Carter Foundation and Make-a-Wish Middle Tennessee.
Joining the evening’s hosts, 14-year NFL veteran Kevin Carter and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts, were country stars Darius Rucker, Kix Brooks, Chuck Wicks, and Kristen Kelly along with NFL mainstays Ryan Clady, A.J. Hawk, Jared Allen, Eric Decker, Golden Tate, and Delanie Walker. Dozens of television personalities including Chip Esten, D.B. White, Bonnie Bernstein, and Michele Beisner were also in attendance.

Esten, who plays Deacon on ABC’s hit show Nashville, spent the night serving surf ‘n turf to guests, signing autographs, and taking photographs for tips. A first year participant, he told reporters it was an honor to give back to a community that has embraced him so wholeheartedly.

While celebrities and patrons alike were dazzled by the star-studded affair, they never lost sight of the true reason they were there—to make a difference in the lives of children with life threatening illnesses and support this year’s Make-a-Wish Ambassador, Noah.

As Darius Rucker stated, “When I was a kid, my mother told me that I should help people. Once I was to the point where my name could help people, I started doing different things for charities. I come out here and have fun and make money to help out.”

In total, the event raised over $120,000 for charity.  The event showcased an incredible silent and live auction items that dazzled both celebrities and patrons.  Bidders fought over tickets to Sunday’s final round of the 2014 Masters, swimming lessons with Olympian Ryan Lochte, autographed sports memorabilia, and authentic Nashville experience packages, including an evening with Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, The Band Perry and Tennessee Titans.

After the event, attendees kept the party going next door at Honky Tonk Central, where they were treated to a concert with performances by Cowboy Troy, Halfway to Hazard, Keith Anderson, Kristen Kelly, Darius Rucker, Big and Rich and Jay DeMarcus.  Artists sang some of their biggest hits including “Wagon Wheel,” “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy),” and “Pickin’ Wildflowers” as guests danced well into the night.
LEGACY Consulting, PR and Events would like to thank everyone involved in this event including our staff, event committee, celebrities, sponsors, volunteers, young leaders and the Nashville community. We are so proud of this year’s success and could not have done this without so much incredible support.
