First Annual Colin McCarthy High School Combine Prep Clinic A Success
By Brittany Moore
Saturday, July 13 – Titans linebacker
Colin McCarthy hosted a free, one-day football clinic for rising high school
football players to improve their overall skills training. The clinic was held
at Quest Sports Center in Brentwood,
Tennessee with a focus on improving results in six combine events: vertical jump, broad jump, L-drill, 5-10-5,
medicine ball throw, and the 40-yard dash.
“In Tennessee, there’s no real training to provide [high school football players] with the knowledge of what to expect,” said McCarthy. “I wanted to bring this concept to the Nashville area. The purpose of having them go through the drills is to help them understand what they need to do so when the opportunity comes for them to compete, they’re ready for it. They know what to expect.”
McCarthy is healthy and ready for
training camp which starts this week. He and teammate Akeem Ayers kicked it off
by delivering tickets to season ticket holders this morning in Nashville and
the surrounding areas. This year, the Titans training camp is open to fans on 12 different occasions. Dates can be found at www.titansonline.com.
As mentioned in June, McCarthy's fan contests have been through rigorous brainstorming processes and are almost ready for launch. “I hope fans are ready because there’s going to be some really fun contests that everyone can enjoy,” says McCarthy.
