Kevin Carter of ESPNU and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts Set to Host Annual Celebrity Waiters Dinner

by Michael Dunn

NFL veteran, Super Bowl champion and now College Game Day analyst on ESPNU, Kevin Carter, will be joined by Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts to co-host the 16th Annual Kevin Carter’s “Waiting for Wishes”Celebrity Waiters Dinner at The Palm Restaurant in Nashville on Tuesday, April 18th, 2017. This event promises to be another unforgettable night as celebrities and guests alike come together to raise money for The Kevin Carter Foundation and Make-a-Wish Middle Tennessee.   The event is presented by The Campbell Family Foundation and HCA/TriStar.

In past years, celebrities ranging from professional athletes like former Tennessee Titans’ running back Eddie George and MMA fighter Tito Ortiz to country music stars such as Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker and Big & Rich have comprised the group of diversified celebrities.  And this year will be no different. These celebrities will perhaps go back to their younger days and take on the role of a server, except this time it will be in one of Nashville’s top steakhouses, The Palm.

The night will begin with a cocktail reception with our hospitality sponsor Aon.  Then the patrons will enjoy an incredible surf and turf dinner at The Palm, sponsored by AudioDeluxe.  It’s easy to get lost in all of the fun, food and music that will be surrounding everyone on April 18th, but this event isn’t just about people getting to meet celebrities or live country music.  Since 2002, this event has been responsible for raising over $2 million that goes towards granting the wishes of children who are in the fight of their lives against debilitating medical issues.

The silent and live auction is a driving force behind the fundraising, and we are incredibly thankful to receive unique donations from companies, celebrities and organizations all over the country.  The auction is sponsored by PAR.

After the meal, patrons and participants are invited to gather next door for the Official After-Party – Jammin’ With Jay DeMarcus & Friends sponsored by the Tennessee Titans. Storme Warren, host of Sirius XM’s The Highway, will be the emcee of this living-room style jam session.  We mentioned there are going to be music industry stars, right?  We’ve seen incredible performances from Rick Springfield, Darius Rucker, Tiffany, Scotty McCreary, Chip Esten, Tracy Lawrence, Big & Rich with Cowboy Troy, Keith Anderson, Kristen Kelly and Low Cash Cowboys just to name a few.  You truly never know who is going to show up or hop on stage next!

"I am again so grateful to be able to host this incredible event in Nashville," said ESPNU Analyst Kevin Carter. "I'm thankful to my co-host Jay DeMarcus and the unbelievable celebrities that show up to wait tables for our patrons each year. I am thrilled when I think about how many wishes we've been able to grant for children with life-threatening illnesses through our fundraising efforts and this event for the past fifteen years."

This event is sponsored by: The Campbell Family Foundation and HCA, AudioDeluxe, Aon, PAR, Tennessee Titans, The Hilton Downtown Nashville, Horizon Wine and Spirits, RJ Young, The Palm, Honky Tonk Central, Nashville Lifestyles Magazine, MStreet and Matchless Transportation.
