The Sacramento, CA native is making the transition into acting after spending four years as an NFL player after being selected in 4th Round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders where he became an immediate starter at linebacker as a rookie. Burris played his entire career with the Raiders totaling over 30 starts at linebacker and was a leading tackler in 2012 and 2014. One of his most noteworthy achievements was ending Panthers quarterback Cam Newton's 176 streak of passes without an interception.

In 2017, after multiple injuries, Burris decided to retire from the NFL and began to focus on the next chapter of his career, acting.   He had taken acting classes while attending San Diego State where he was named Scholar Athlete of the Year, two-time Defensive MVP of the Year, two-time 1st Team All-Mountain West Conference and San Diego State Student Athlete of the Year along with winning the Poinsettia Bowl.

When it comes to his new career path, Burris says he's most excited about the vast opportunities and creative diversity in the entertainment industry.

"There are thousands of projects going on at one time which creates a lot more opportunity than I had as an athlete," said Burris. "I also really enjoy that every role is completely different. You're always playing a different character, which requires range and versatility as an actor, and forces you to grow. In football, I was a linebacker no matter where I was playing. I now have some freedom in making creative decisions on how I'm going to portray a character and that's really fun."

Burris booked his first audition as a guest star in a big budget pilot, which has yet to air, about a year ago as well as a handful of other roles shortly after. He incorporated his preparation skills as an athlete when he began to research, train and prepare for acting roles.  During that time, he discovered his own method for acting.   Burris says he trusts his gut and finds a way.  That is a mantra that he writes at the top of each script or audition copy he receives.  He trusts his natural instincts and is willing to take risks.   He doesn't want to play it safe.

"I go big and take my shots," says Burris. "I trust my gut even if that means falling flat on my face. I'm willing to go there and I'm convinced that's the mindset that brings success."

Burris is hopeful that the same grit, determination and work ethic that provided success on the field will pave the way for a successful career as an actor.
